Challenge
Pordenone needed to counter persistent air pollutant buildup in an area prone to thermal inversion, low dispersion, heavy traffic, and industrial activity. The city required a network to spatially monitor key pollutants in detail and assess the impact of green initiatives, with data accessible to its residents.
Solution
Since August 2021, 8 bettair® static nodes have been deployed across the city, measuring gases such as NO₂, NO, CO, CO₂, O₃, SO₂, H₂S, plus particulate matter and ambient noise. Real‑time rainfall monitoring was added, along with particle dispersion prediction models developed by PM Ten SRL. Citizens can view data via an LCD street‑level display.

Outcomes
The deployment of 8 nodes enabled precise detection of pollution hotspots, supporting urban planning and sustainable mobility decisions grounded in real‑world data.
Availability of pollutant data (oxides, gases, particulates) combined with rainfall and noise allowed predictive modeling to anticipate and mitigate air quality episodes.
Public access to real‑time data via LCD display fostered citizen awareness and engagement, strengthening environmental transparency and community participation.
