Newport City Council
Urban
Challenge
Newport City Council needed to enhance understanding of urban air quality and mitigate traffic-related emissions in densely populated areas. It was essential to have real-time data to design targeted environmental policies focused on sustainable mobility and responsive to pollution fluctuations.
Solution
During the first half of 2025, high-precision bettair® devices were installed as part of a strategy to innovate in urban sustainability and strengthen advanced environmental monitoring. This installation was carried out by Bettair Cities in collaboration with our official distributor in the United Kingdom, Cura Terrae Air Ltd, integrating into Newport’s ambitious air quality monitoring network, one of the most extensive in the country.

Outcomes
The deployment of 9 sensors enabled local authorities to monitor key pollutants such as NO₂ and O₃ in real time, improving their ability to respond to episodes of elevated pollution.
These high-resolution sensors reinforce the municipality’s sustainable mobility strategy and facilitate the planning of environmental policies based on concrete local data.
Integrating this new technology into one of the UK’s most extensive monitoring networks cements Bettair’s role as a trusted partner for smart, resilient cities.
