Challenge

The Port of Tarragona, an important center of industrial and chemical activities, was facing difficulties in monitoring and reducing emissions that could affect the nearby urban environment. Although VOC campaigns are conducted periodically and the existing network records pollutants and environmental parameters, the need for higher spatial and temporal resolution arose to better understand the dispersion of port emissions and their potential effects on adjacent communities.

Solution

The Port of Tarragona incorporated Bettair ‘ s advanced air quality sensors into its dnota-managed monitoring network. Bettair nodes were strategically placed between the port and the city to provide real-time, high-resolution data on key pollutants, such as PM₁₀, PM₂․₅, VOCs, SO₂ and H₂S. The Bettair Cloud platform enriched the system with visual Wind Rose and Pollution Rose functions to identify pollution patterns and sources, improving control and compliance with CO₂ reduction targets and urban environmental management.
