Elche needed to accurately assess pollution impact in its neighborhoods (El Altet and Torrellano) and central area in the context of the future Low Emission Zone (LEZ). The city required real‑time environmental data to evaluate the effectiveness of sustainable mobility policies, optimize urban planning, and support informed decision‑making with concrete evidence.

In the initial phase, 12 bettair® sensors were installed at key locations: El Altet, Torrellano, and downtown Elche. These nodes collect real‑time data on pollutants such as NO₂, O₃, NO, CO, SO₂, H₂S, NH₃, CO₂, plus particulate matter (PM₁, PM₂.₅, PM₁₀) and other environmental parameters. The data is integrated into a platform enabling immediate analysis, impact assessment, and proactive response to air quality events.

The network of 12 sensors provided a detailed view of pollution in priority areas such as neighborhoods, residential, and commercial zones, facilitating precise planning of future restrictions and green areas.

Measuring trace gases such as H₂S and NH₃, alongside particulate and conventional gases, provided a more comprehensive environmental diagnosis, especially relevant in the face of heavy traffic and industrial activities.

With real‑time monitoring, Elche can quickly assess the impact of its LEZ, enhance sustainable mobility, and strengthen urban resilience through up‑to‑date, accessible data.
